You all must be familiar with a bug bite, the bite of an insect such as a mosquito or any other insect is termed as a bug bite. Most of the times a bug bites us and it causes itchiness and redness in the area it stung us. I. Ice cubes
Ice cubes can be used to reduce the swelling and itchiness caused by the bug bite. Ice can give relief to pain and swelling when applied to the affected area. There are two reasons behind working of ice on a bite, first of all, it causes a soothing sensation in the skin which reduces swelling and redness and secondly it diverts your brain from itchiness and make it focus on the part saying “this is cold”. Ice cubes are very easily available at homes so you can easily find it and use it.
Toothpaste is highly recommended as a home remedy when it comes to a mosquito bite. If you are familiar with the process of mosquito bite than you should know that when a mosquito bites you, it releases an anticoagulant which feeds on your body but your body naturally creates histamines and send it to the bitten area, which results in itchiness and swelling. III. Banana peel
Applying banana peel to the affected area can help in reducing redness and soothes the affected area. The idea of applying the banana peel to the affected area comes from ancient Chinese civilization. You can directly apply the banana peel to the affected area, banana contains non-inflammatory properties which can help to reduce the redness and swelling in the area affected.
IV. Aloe Vera

V. Vinegar Soak
Vinegar can be used to treat a bug bite, it is one of the most useful home remedies. Vinegar has many medicinal properties such as antibacterial, an anti-inflammatory which makes it a good home remedy to treat bug bite as well. Applying white vinegar or apple cider vinegar to the affected area can reduce the swelling and burning sensation. All you have to do is, take a cloth or small towel and soak it in vinegar and gently apply it to the affected area.
VI. Peppermint and tea tree essential oil
Peppermint oil can help in the reduction of burning sensation and itchiness. Applying peppermint oil to the affected area can help in relieving the pain and itchiness caused by the bugs. Studies say that peppermint oil contains antimicrobial properties which help in reducing the burning sensation. Tea tree oil can also help in reducing the risk of infection as it prevents bacteria from growing. It is said that tea tree oil is an antihistamine which can reduce the activity of the body’s histamine production which can help in reduce swelling and itchiness.
VII. Witch hazel
Witch hazel is essential to water which can help in preventing infection which can be caused by bug bites. VIII. Lavender oil
Lavender oil can be very useful when treating a bug bite, lavender oil contains anti-inflammatory properties which can help in the reduction of swelling and can help in soothing the area which is affected. Lavender oil is also very useful for skin it can be used to cure minor burns, wounds and acne. You can get lavender oil very easily from a supermarket or online stores.
Oatmeal which is considered as a common food can be used to treat bug bites. Oatmeal contains properties such as anti-oxidant and healing which can help to treat a bug bite. All you have to do is mix oatmeal with water and create a paste, mix it properly and apply the paste directly to the area affected.
