1) Eye –Rotation Up and Down

Eye –Rotation Up and Down

There are six muscles that connect the eye to the eye socket and help our eyes to move side to side, up and down and all around.

Step to Step:

a) Sit on the floor or yoga mat with legs straight in front of your body.

b) With both thumbs pointing at it upwards, place both the fists on the knees.

c) Now, slowly raise the right thumb keeping the arms straight. Follow the motion of the thumb upwards with the eyes.

d) When the thumb is raised to the maximum, slowly bring it down to starting that position. Keep continuing it with the eyes focused on the thumb while keeping the head unmoving throughout.

e) Replicate the same process with the left thumb.

f) You can practice this five times with both the thumbs.

g) Keep your head and spine straight throughout this activity.

h) And at last close, the eyes and relax.

Breathing pattern during this Yoga Exercise:

i) Inhale while raising the eyes.

ii) Exhale while lowering the eyes.

2) Sideways Viewing

Sideways Viewing (Yoga Exercise for Eyes)

Step to Step:

a) Sit with the straight legs posture in front of your body.

b) Please lift the arms keeping your fist closed and thumbs pointing upward.

c) Now, look at into point straight in front of the level with your eyes.

d) Keep the head in a fixed position and concentrate on the following one after the other by shifting the vision to below :

e) Create space between the eyebrows

f) Left thumb

g) Repeatedly, space  between the eyebrows

h) Right Thumb and again the left thumb.

i) You may do this exercise for 10 to 20 times.

j) After completing this you can close the eyes and rest.

Breathing pattern during this Yoga Exercise:

i) Inhale (during neutral position)

ii) Exhale (looking to the side)

iii) Inhale and come back to the center.

3) Eye Rotation- Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise

Step to Step:

a) Sit with legs straight in front of your body

b) Locate the left hand on your left knee

c) Then hold your right fist above the right knee, with the thumb pointing upwards, while doing this keep in mind to state your elbow in a straight posture.

d) Moving ahead, keep your head unmoving, and concentrate your eyes on the thumb.

e) Please make a circle with your thumb, and keeping the elbow straight.

f) You can repeatedly do this exercise five times each in a clockwise and anti-clockwise direction.

g) You have to repeat this whole process with the left thumb as well

h) After completing this exercise you can close the eyes and rest.

Breathing pattern during this Yoga Exercise:

i) You must inhale while completing the upper arc of the circle.

ii) Exhale while completing the lower arc.

4) Palming

Palming Yoga for Eyes

      Step to Step:

a) Sit calm and in a comfortable posture

b) Rub your palms against each other; do with this strenuously until you can feel the heat radiating from them.

c) Then place both hand palm over your closed eyes and feel the warmth spreading.

d) Please stay in the same position until the heat from palms completely absorbed by the eyes; you can do this activity repeatedly three times or more.

Benefits: This yoga exercise is better for the eye to get circulation and a quick and simple way to relax our eyes. It will improve the blood circulation and keeps tiredness and puffiness at the bay.

5) Trataka

Step to Step:

a) Sit down in a comfortable posture, either in Padmasana or Vajrasana

b) Locate out one candle at about two feet from where you are sitting

c) Light the candle and start staring towards its flame without blinking
